Life Low Carbon Feed seeks to mitigate climate change by preparing a feed for goats by recycling agricultural and livestock waste.

In this regard, this project, supported by the European Union, aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of new methods and innovative practices for the proper recovery of agricultural, citrus and rice waste, turning it into a new animal feed capable of reducing CH4 emissions in ruminants, thus mitigating climate change.

“Our initiative is based on the low carbon economy, using agricultural waste to produce animal feed and reduce greenhouse gases emissions in agriculture and livestock breeding”

Goals of the Life Low Carbon Feed project

  • To demonstrate the technical-economic viability of the management of citrus and rice straw waste to recover it as food to reduce GHG emissions.
  • To demonstrate the technical-economic viability of the production of a new feed based on this agricultural waste.
  • To demonstrate the nutritional characteristics and environmental benefits and the reduction of GHG emissions by means of the use of the new LCFeed for goat farming.
  • Validation of the new LCFeed product in the market: acceptance by customers and viability versus competitors in terms of quality and price.
  • Creation and implementation of new policies at local and regional levels, with influence on European policies.
  • Development of a strategy to replicate the project in other European countries.
  • Publication of the results of the project among direct stakeholders and the general public, providing information and increasing awareness.
  • Monitoring of the results obtained in the project to obtain indicators allowing an efficient evaluation of the results.
