A.1. Preparatory actions for the demonstration phase
Preparation of the livestock facilities as well as planning of the demonstrations contained in action C.3. All this, based on compliance with an Animal Ethics strategy.
C.1. Demonstration and validation of the logistics of waste collection and transport (citrus and rice)
To define the optimal methodology for the collection, transport and reception of the two agricultural by-products needed for the preparation of the animal food.
C.2. Formulation, fabrication and validation of the animal feed for goats in pellet form
To produce the goat feed according to the requirements of the following actions about the demonstration (C.3) of the goat feed and sustainability (C.4).
C.3. Demonstration of LowCarbon Feed
Mitigation of climate change by feeding agricultural by-products (citrus leaves and rice straw) to goats.
C.4. LowCarbon Feed sustainability plan
Demonstration of the sustainability of Low Carbon Feed with guarantees of viability in the market. For this, the following are considered: economic viability, social improvement and environmental commitment.
C.5. Creation and implementation of multipurpose policies from the results
Creation and implementation of the new policies in a local and regional scale, in line with European policies.
C.6. Replicability and Transferability Plan
Analysis of the optimal location in Italy for the replication of the Project, according to the availability of raw materials –citrus, rice and goats–, as quell as the proximity to each other and with respect to industrial areas for the manufacture of feed.
D.1. LIFE Performance Indicators
Establishment and definition of the performance and environmental and socio-economic impact indicators of the project, as well as the establishment of the appropriate measurement processes for its registration.
D.2. Life Cycle Analysis
To produce a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of the animal feed LCFeed produced in the project.
D.3. Socio-economic evaluation
To objectively evaluate the social perception and economic impact of the project along the time.
E.1. Website, social media and other means of communication
Publicize the Low Carbon Feed project, show its evolution and the results obtained, all with the purpose of raising awareness, mainly, among farmers and the scientific community, about the importance of fighting against climate change.
E.2. Layman's report
Disclosure report that contains in a synthetic way, an overview of the scope and main results obtained from the project for dissemination among the general public.
E.3. Information panels, roll-up displays and brochures to raise public awareness
To provide all the materials needed to share the objectives and results of the project with the public in general by means of informative panels, rolling displays, brochures and folders.
E.4. Networking with other EU projects and dissemination to the general public
To disseminate and share the objectives and evolution in time of the LCFEED project with as many as possible actors involved with these topics or of potential interest.
E.5. Media presence, publications and conference participation and organization
To give information in order to raise awareness among the general public as well as the scientific-technical community.
F.1. Overall Project Management
Ensure the correct implementation of the project at the operational, financial and administrative level in front of the European Commission.
F.3. After- LIFE Plan
Includes the activities to be carried out to maintain and continue the LCFEED project after completing its implementation.
