The bioeconomy sets the course for a more efficient economic model in the use of resources.
The term bioeconomy means an economy derived from the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and waste streams into value-added products, such as feed, bioproducts or bioenergy. It has become a key concept for setting the priorities for sustainable development, and it arises in response to the different challenges that today’s society must face.
The LIFE Low Carbon Feed project has managed to comply with this concept by valuing by-products such as rice straw and the pruning of citrus leaves, thus giving them a way out and solving the environmental problems in which they are usually related.
