On June 26, 2020 at 11am, a web conference was held on “Low-carbon sheep farming: innovation becomes practical”.
SheeptoShip LIFE (July 2016 – July 2021) is an Italian project co-financed by the EU LIFE 2014-2020 program, whose objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the sheep dairy sector in Sardinia by 20% in 10 years, through the identification and application of eco-innovative techniques.
During the Web Conference, the progress of this project was assessed and rural development strategies aimed at promoting the environmental sustainability of sheep production systems were discussed. One of the objectives of the event was to evaluate the replicability of the good practices of SheepToShip LIFE in the region at that national and European scale.
The online conference was joined by various guests from the technical-scientific dimension to the regional and national policy-institutional, with the aim of guiding and stimulating the adoption of agro-zootechnical practices that are respectful of the environment and the climate.
