On October 29th, 2018 was the official presentation of the european project: LIFE Pesticide Reduction using Friendly and Environmentally Controlled Technologies (Perfect LIFE)
The opening of the congress was led by Elena Cebrián, Consejera de Agricultura, Medio Ambiente, Cambio Climático y Desarrollo Rural; Vicen Yusà Pelechà, deputy general director in Seguridad Alimentaria y Laboratorios de Salud Pública (food security and public health laboratories); María Teresa Chàfer Nàcher, General Director of Desarrollo Rural y Política Agraria Común (PAC) (Rural Development and Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)); Cirilo Arnadis Núñez, President of the Federación de Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de la Comunidad Valenciana; and Ramón Vallejo, Scientific Director of the Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterráneo (CEAM).
The introduction of the project was led by Amalia Muñoz, atmospheric chemistry researcher on the European PhotoReactor (Euphore) program, Doctor Olga Pardo, from the Fundació per al Foment de la Investigació Sanitaria i Biomèdica de la Comunitat Valenciana (FiSABIO), Patricia chueca, agronomical doctor, environmental scientist and researcher at the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrícolas (IVIA) and Egon Cervera, agricultural engeneer in the Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de la Comunidad Valenciana (CACV).
The attendance included approximately forty people, mainly technicians and other positions of the Generalitat Valenciana and representatives from the agricultural sector. The presence of the media was significant.
After the presentation, other similar european projects from the LIFE and Horizonte 2020 programs were presented, in anticipation of possible future synergies with the collaboration of the Universidad Carlos III (UC3M) –Madrid-.
Said projects were LIFE IRRILIFE about efficiency in the use of pesticides through the use of localized irrigation systems –Pablo López; JAP Energéticas Medioambientales S.L.-; INNOSETA Projects, of stablishment of a tematic network about protection of crops and sustainable use of phytosanitaty products; and the OPTIMA Project, of Smart equipments for safe application of pesticides –Emilio Gil; Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Ingeniería Agroalimentaria y Biotectología’s department-, and finally, the LIFE LowCarbonFeed (LCFEED), that uses new methods and innovative practices to achieve the effective recovery of agricultural, citrus and rice waste and turn it into new animal feed capable of reducing CH4 emissions in ruminants –Pepe castro; La Unió de Llauradors i Ramaders del País Valencià (la Unió), and the forementioned Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de la Comunidad Valenciana (CACV)-.
